Merino Go Go Bag, the Superstar of the sleeping bags

Do you have well established sleeping routine for your baby or toddler? Did you set up some daily habits or sleeping cues to make bed time easier? Children just like adults like the comfort of routine and habits. I believe sleeping cues are very useful to put the little angels to bed, making sure to choose some 'good' habits. A good sleep cue from a bad one? Bad sleep cues are inconvenient, demanding on you, and hard to wean, while good cues are easy to use and easy to wean.

What worked for our girls? Creating a familiar and comforting sleep cues. In the early months, we used a snug swaddle, white noise then we moved on the sleeping bag, pacifier and a favourite comfort toy 'doggy'. Wherever we go I will need those three things for a peaceful night. Those three sleeping cues are only available to my daughter Josefin at bed time, so they became a strong sleep association.

Next step getting the pacifier to go! Any suggestions?

At about 22 months Josefin is still happy in a sleeping bag... Unfortunately most of sleeping bags available on the market stop at size 18 months. It's been difficult to find a bag for children age +2. came to the rescue! They offer a good selection of bedding, swaddles sleeping bags, and linens... We love the The Merino Kids™ Go Go Bag™ is a 100% natural sleep bag, made from the finest natural Merino wool and 100% certified organic cotton. Known for its natural ability to regulate body temperature by capturing and circulating air to insulate child when the room temperature falls, and releasing excess body heat and moisture as the room temperature rises. Child stays warm and dry without overheating.

Top of the range, sleeping bag. Go Go Bag is not cheap but with its clever merino wool technology, you can use it all year round, making it more cost effective. The merino is very soft and warm yet breathable. It doesn't make the children sweaty. The beautiful quality is long lasting  and the size from 0 to 2 years old and 2 to 4 years is also great value in the long run. We also love the special vent in it to put the car seat strap through. It’s particularly great for journeys without disturbing her sleep as the bag has a special vent in it to put the car seat strap through.

The international award winning Go Go Bag available at
Retail from AED400

Play with Ludi Cottage

Luella and Josefin are loving their new play house from Ludi. The french brand has a great selection of children toys and child care products. I love the unique playful and colourful design. It offers lots of creative solutions for children imagination and fun stimulation. Ludi is now available in children super store Just Kidding.

The Ludi Cottage is a pop up tent, super easy to set up, thanks to its easy convenient design and assembly. It took about 5 minutes, no manual needed. The best part, it's was easy to put away, folding it back into its convenient bag. Take little storage place, can be store away at home or ready to be taken on travel and play date.

Kids will love the large and bright inner space , the wide opening, mesh door, roll up windows and soft colors. It's a fun shelter with durable quality from flooring, to waterproof roof and sun UV protection. Recommended from age 2, but both of my girls (7 years old and 22 months) seems to really enjoy it. They both happily played, sharing afternoon snack and lounging around...
Available at Just kidding store across UAE, the Ludi tent retail for AED395 - details her.

Casual Chic Iftar at Vida Downtown

Last week, we finished the weekend on a high note with friends at Vida Downtown for casual chic  Iftar experience. I love Vida for its urban elegant vibe, this authentic Ramadan experience was a perfect way to end the weekend with friends.

Dubai has been part of my life for 20 years, it's a home away from home where we are guests and get the chance to experience Middle Eastern festivities and traditions. Iftar is one of those celebrations and its a real treat.

Vida Downtown Dubai offers a delightful menu to break daily fast and chat till the wee hours at 3in1 restaurant. A tantalizing modern Arabic selection of gourmet favourites is offered on the menu sprinkled with a dash of what's called ‘Vida', the chic modern twist.

Choose between Iftar or Suhour under the stars. We arrived at 7pm for Iftar, and enjoyed a lovely diner indoor. A nice choice of Arabic cuisine includes a wide variety of salads, appetizers, desserts, dry fruits and hand crafted beverages created for Ramadan season, on display for guests to choose.  Followed by the main dishes served from a set menu on the table, including traditional cuisine favourites such as ouzi Lamb, hammour, vegetable saloona stew and mixed meat hot off the grill.

After diner, we moved outdoor and relaxed, chating to friends by the pool in a cabana to enjoy Shisha and drinks under the stars. The arabesque set up with the beautiful  Downtown Dubai views, lounge middle eastern music and the lovely food, made the evening special.

'Finding Dory' , we watched it!

Last week, we got to watch in exclusivity before the official release, Finding Dory, at Vox Cinema Max, at Deira City Centre, the largest screen in Middle East and north Africa.

The all-new big-screen adventure took us back to the extraordinary underwater world from Finding Nemo. This time around, Dory is looking for her family.  Now with help from her friends Nemo and Marlin, Dory embarks on an epic adventure to find her mom and dad.

Great to see the original characters and the meet the new ones, particularly Hank the octopus' chameleonic. The animation is still top-notch and I would recommend watching just because, it's Pixar, Nemo, Ellen DeGeneres but somehow it did not have the same sensibility and wonder then original Nemo.

Out June 16 across cinemas in the UAE.

Top 10 tips for travelling with kids by Super Granny

Travelling season is upon us and many parents stress over the idea of flying with infant and toddlers at every age and stage - from newborn to preschooler and every phase in between. The internet has many resourceful posts on how to deal with it, from packing list, to activities, to tips and travelling guides. Too much information can get overwhelming, so here's a good recap - top 10 tips!

Today, I had the opportunity to meet with Big On Children’s Super Granny - speaker and parenting coach, Andalene Salvesen. The talk was a reassuring conversation for parents on how to handle children during summer holiday. We discussed some basic principals and parenting technics like using incentive jars, charts, choice of chores, chill time, screen time, using a timer and understanding consequences. Andalene has great answers to parenting concerns and dilemma.

Dubai our Sandbox asked Andalene to share her TOP TEN TIPS on travelling with children.

1. Be prepared! Gather fresh ideas/activities (read here) from Pinterest and other mothers. Variety of age appropriate activities in zip lock bags/wipes/healthy snacks and water

2. Be strict i.e. be assertive, decide on the rules and consequences

3. Be consistent - stick to the rules while traveling - otherwise they will keep testing the boundaries. Predictability makes them feel safe and secure

4. Be flexible - when things don't work out as planned, be ready with a plan B

5. Be calm - BREATH - regularly!

6. Be present - enjoy each moment, with limited technology to distract you.

7. Be an example - make sure that if they copy your body language, tone of voice and mannerisms, that it would not embarrass you.

8. Be well rested and eat healthy - 80/20 rule applies with treats and junk food otherwise their behaviour (and yours) will be affected. Everybody still needs their sleep - even on holiday

9. Be respectful - to your spouse, your kids, family members and the people you meet

10. Be FUN to be with. Lighten up and laugh ALOT

Good reminder! Now let's enjoy the holidays...

Big On Children’s Super Granny is in town until June 24th giving series of talks and private appointments during this time. As an international parenting coach, speaker and co-author, Andalene Salvesen, is known for achieving great results, thanks to her practical and direct manner when helping parents out.

Chic family breakfast at Bistro La Serre - we love!

I love to start the day with a family breakfast on the weekend. It can be an early one by the beach in the most casual way or a late morning treat in one of Dubai many good family eatery. And sometime you need Bistro La Serre ! We love the French bistro for it's elegance and simplicity, it's modern classics french favourites and the intimate but buzzing atmosphere.

Back by popular demand, the Bistro breakfast launches for its second season, offering a lovely selection of breakfast favourites, from waffles with maple syrup to scrambled eggs with lashings of smoked salmon, poached eggs with summer truffles or Bistro’s famous Eggs Benedict accompanied by baskets of freshly baked viennoisserie. What not to love!?

It offers the perfect balance of chic setting _ upstairs from the Boulangerie _ in a friendly atmosphere, with a Parisian band playing happy and jazzy French tunes (Saturdays only). It's a great weekend spot to indulge in delicious food and a glass of champagne or some morning cocktails.

La Serre in its very French way and non Dubai way, offers no kids corner, face painting, jumping castle... Just like a Parisian bistro, children will sit at the table enjoying the most delicious 'Crepes au chocolat' and being part of the family conversation. And when it's gets all too long for the little ones to stay in place, the lovely set of colouring book and pencils come out for entertainment... And that's how we had a lovely family yet luxurious breakfast at La Serre Bistro!

The Bistro Breakfast will be available from the 6th May until the 30th September 2016 on both Fridays and Saturdays, 10am to 1pm in the elegant, air-conditioned Bistro of La Serre.

Level Kids - Dubai most stylish shopping children destination

Yesterday, I took little Jo on a morning outing... Not to the park, not to the pool, not to another indoor playroom but to the most stylish Dubai destination for children. Level Kids is located in the newly opened CityWalk phase 2. It's a must see visit for it's beautiful and whimsical design and luxurious retail experience.

The journey is based on three universes with different themes and designed for a specific age group, children from 0 to 12, contributing to the enchanting experience.

On the ground floor the underwater world with beautiful colour them, sea creatures and dreamlike water illusions set the background for premium brands like Chloe, Burberry, Fendi, Stella Mccartney and many more.

On the first floor, walk through the blossoming desert with soft shades, texture and hidden spots of colours and creatures, like those gorgeous gold mirrored giraffe. You will find great contemporary brands and even some Dubai homegrown design like Poupette à la Plage.

The top floor, is the sky where clouds and balloons take you to the perfect environment to shop for newborn layettes, toys or gifts.

On top of the retails experience, Level Kids offers (or will soon) new services: a spa, a photo studio, a room for birthdays and events, a concierge, a Palace Garden where kids can dress up as their favorite prince or princess and a play area. Already open for coffee and treats , La Pâtisserie des Rêves will be joined by another restaurant: Aubaine.

Level Kids is not about shopping on a budget obviously, its a playful and luxurious Dubai experience for the family. A reference for the children’s luxury retail space with impressive selection of children’s wear, shoes, accessories, toys, furniture and services. We loved it!
