Kure Beauty & Spa

There is a little sanctuary of organic and holistic approach to beauty in our favorite sandbox: Kure Beauty and Spa. I absolutely love this little Dubai gems. And here's why I can not wait to go back.

Walking into Kure is delight to the eyes. A well designed and inviting space, bright but soft, inventive but comforting and most of all very welcoming. I loved the combination of earthy tones, wood elements, stone and metal details. There is a Scandinavian influences mixed with a Mediterranean inspiration - what not to love? Kure Beauty and Spa offers the same standards of Dubai top luxury spas with a simple down to earth approach to design.

The shelf display a great selection of beauty products with an all-natural ingredient list. You are sure to find 100% organic formulas for all your face, body and hair requirements. The Kure own line of beauty care is a great option for affordable but high standard of beauty solutions. In my late 30's, I am definitely looking into switching to beauty products free of parabens, preservatives, and artificial dyes. Never too late for good resolutions…

I had the opportunity to try out a facial. After a skin consultation, the therapist selected the best procedure for my needs. It was a perfect combination of raw ingredients (yogurt, fresh papaya and sugar) and John Masters Organics formulas, customized to best suits my skin. The treatment was to target my t-zone, deep cleaning, dry patches, sun pigmentation and to boost the natural glow of the skin with vitamin C. The procedure was perfectly conducted and the lymphatic massage around the visage, neck, shoulders and arms with pressure points was the little extra that makes it just perfect.
Facial prices, from AED250 for a 30min raw or detox facial to AED550 for a 60min Vitamin C.

I am now using John Masters Organics Vitamin C anti-acing serum , it's a great natural moisturizer with a powerful, age-fighting formula. Recommended by the therapist, it brings out a healthy glow, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and pre-mature aging. Extracts of sea algae and rosebud provide intense moisture and antioxidants to help procollagen production. Superoxide dismutase and acerola help fight cellular aging and helps replenish tired and stressed skin. A new must in my skin care routine.

Thank you to the lovely Myriam Sarfati, mind, heart and soul behind Kure Beauty and Spa. Organic beauty retail and spa outlet providing women in the UAE brands with next generation technology combined with ethically sourced 100% BioOrganic botanical formulations. It's defiantly a new address added to my little black book of Dubai best.

A Koita and Dubai our Sandbox kind of breakfast event

This morning Koita Organic Milk and Dubai our Sandbox teamed up to host an intimate breakfast to showcase the goodness of a product that I truly respect and happily buy for my family.

It was a lovely informal but informative coffee morning with some lovely Dubai ladies. I was really happy to introduce Koita Organic Milk to other mothers who had concerns and questions about the best dairy options in the regions. As mums we look for the best products for our families and we are tough consumers to please.

Mustafa Koita, Founder & CEO, was ready to take on the challenge and answers our thoughts and inquiries. It turned out to be a really nice happy chat over good coffee and pastries with great company. Thank you to organic café Pret To Go for hosting us, we all enjoyed the treats.

Koita Organic Milk available at supermarkets in the UAE (Spinneys, Waitress, Choithrams, Tamini, Panda) Read more about Koita here!

by lulla...

Here's an adorable new label we came across at the Dubai Marina Souq.
by lulla is a brand born in Dubai, for babies and kids.Exclusive distribution by Birdsn'Bees.
We met with Helene Helffer, the creative mind behind the brand for a glimpse into her Dubai life as a mom and entrepreneur.

About you?

Where are you originally from?
I am French; I was born in Paris but grew up in Nantes, Brittany. I’ve lived in London and that’s where I met my husband before moving to Dubai.

How long have you lived in Dubai?
3 years already… but it feels just like I arrived a few months ago. Time flies!

Please tell us about your business and what inspired you to start your business adventure?
After working in HR, I started my first business. A multi brand fashion store that offered the “Nantaises” a selection of handpicked Parisian brands. In London, I managed boutiques like Bonpoint, Zadig & Voltaire and other brands. So when I arrived in Dubai it was natural for me to continue working in fashion. I decided to design my own range of Kids cloths to offer a product that I know and love. It was the natural step forward.

Being a mom, wife and entrepreneurs, how do you manage it all? Any words of wisdom?
My husband is a great support and helps a lot, but also having our kids’ school not far from home and a fantastic nanny makes it all possible!

About living in Dubai?

What inspire you in/ about Dubai?
I always design my collections keeping the Dubai lifestyle in mind: light and airy outfits that can be worn all year round.

Favorite thing to do in Dubai with children?
Dubai has so much to offer for kids indoors as much as outdoor.

What's your favorite way to spend the weekend?
I work most Fridays but Saturday is our family day.

We enjoy healthy family brunches at the Pavilion, strolls along the beach or catching up with friends. We love going out with friends camping in the desert or cruising in Musandam. For the kids it is a real adventure and memories they’ll be able to keep for life.

Do you have a Dubai beauty secret to share with us?
After trying many places, I finally discovered the organic beauty destination: Kure Beauty & Spa. They offer a great range of organic beauty products as REN skincare and have their own range of essential oils.

A Dubai store you could spend hours browsing?
Boutique 1, for the great selection of Designer clothes and accessories. And for the basics… Zara!

A little extra…

Things you can't live without?
A cup of tea… 10 times a day
Calling my husband… 10 times a day
And my 2x little Boys of course…

Do you read any blogs? If so which ones are your favorite?
I follow different blogs written by Dubai “Moms”:
- Sassy Mama as a guide of Dubai.
- My little notebook for the beautiful pictures and travel blog
And for all your great tips Dubai our Sandbox.

Apart from that…
There is one website that I really love - http://design-seeds.com - The pictures and colors inspire me; they take you travelling around the world.
There is also the Edit magazine from Net à Porter to always be up to date with all the latest fashion trends.

Do you have a life motto?
“Once a year go to some place you’ve never been before”
Dalai Lama

“Seeing new places, new faces, hearing new sounds, wakes me up, makes me feel alive, makes me realise how quickly we forget that there’s a great big world out there waiting to be explored, that there’s more than our own small space, that beyond the blue horizon lie excitement, freshness, discovery, new people, new languages, new cultures – the unknown.”

Why I choose Koita Organic Milk

Koita Organic Milk has been in my weekly shopping trolley for months. It's truly a product that I have given my trust to (and a spot in my fridge / pantry). This is not another commercial blog post, it's sincerely because we love Koita Organic Milk, and here is why...

It tastes GOOD and it does GOOD.

♥ Family business homegrown in Dubai with passion.

♥ Love that Koita has travelled the world and found the world’s BEST ORGANIC Milk, from grass fed, free range cows from Italy where the soil produce nutritious pasture.

♥ Thankful that Koita has No Synthetic Hormones, No Antibiotics, No Artificial Pesticides and NO artificial preservatives

♥ Trustful and conveniently relying on the special heat treatment process (UHT), to keep Koita milk in my pantry for months safely (6 Months Shelf Life - keeping the taste to it's most original nature).

♥ Bonus, Koita a Natural source of calcium has added organic Vitamin A & D3 to supports the immune system.

♥ Grateful that Koita, homegrown company based in Dubai contribute to making the world a better place by donating 5% of all net profits from Koita Organic Milk local charities!

Already a fan to both Koita Organic Milk low-fat and full fat, we are now, treating our self to the newly launched this week... Koita Organic Chocolate Low Fat milk! Rich, smooth texture and yummy taste, it's definitely a treat we could not resist. True to it's principle Koita only uses the best organic ingredients from low fat cow milk, brown sugar to cocoa. It's a hit!

If you follow us on social media, you will noticed how Koita has been part of our Instagram feed from picnic play dates, to Spinneys shopping to the girls loving the new cocoa version. Now, at 19 months, I am slowly weaning Josefin of her formula milk to Organic cow milk.

Happy cows, happy kids, happy mamas... Thanks Koita!

Harper's Bazaar Junior - feature April 2016

Love this month issue of Harper's Bazaar Junior. Specially because friend and fellow mom / lifestyle blogger Heidi from Tuesdayschild is a Contributor Editor. Applause ;)

Grateful for the little spot shared on the Culture List along some amazing women who inspire me daily. The issue is out now, April 2016. Go get it!

3 Dubai favorite "outings" with kids

Spontanous little adventure in the desert
Friday afternoon we packed a few supplies and headed out to our favorite sandbox… It's lovely to see the big red dunes on the way to Hatta but for our quick last minute escape we opted for a close by home desert option. We picked a spot the road toward Bab Al Sham and set camp for some fun in the dunes and a sunset BBQ and marshmallow roasting.

The Old Dubai
With guests in town last week, we spent amorning showing off the beauty of the Creek and its surrounding. The old Dubai is always a great attraction even with children. They will enjoy roaming the little streets of Bastakyia, discovering the spice souk, the heritage village, Dubai museum, sipping on fresh juices from little cafes and of course crossing the Creek on a boat. The abras are always
the favorite.

The Dubai Mall Aquarium and Under Water Zoo
This classic Dubai attraction is a life saver during the hot summer months, when you look for some children outings to keep the kids busy and happy. Josefin never seems to get bored of watching fishes, turtles, jellyfishes, crocs… and many of the marine species on display. It can get pricy, AED100 per person. I would definitely consider the membership program - AED250 for the year for myself and free entrance for your little toddler up to 3 years old. thedubaiaquarium.com

Fit Republik for mamas and their the little ones...

Great morning at Fit Republik today! First time at Fit Republik, the state-of-the-art sports facility in Sport City! It's a fantastic space with a wide range of activities that suit people of all ages and interests. Fit Republik offers many activities for children and adults including more than 350 classes a week, an Olympic sized swimming pool, martial arts and the only facility in the Middle East with official gymnastics facility. I was super impressed with the facility, the space and feel good community vibes, enhanced by Natalie's Café, Caramel and Sun pop up shop...

The best part for us mamas is the brand new playground. The Playground, an area where parents can leave their toddlers from the age of 1-4 years old, while they workout. With no time limit, the play zone is open everyday except Friday, from 7:00am - 8:00pm, giving parents the chance to fit in a little ‘me time’ into their busy schedules. It includes a swing, slide, mini climbing wall, crafts center and much more, which means that kiddies will be more than happy to hang out and keep active and engaged with the super-friendly team at Fit Republik.

The concept is defined to help busy parents, look after themselves, while Fit Republik’s trained experts take care of the children. There is no need to book in advance and members pay just 50 AED per hour, and it’s even open to non-members for 75 AED per hour for the facility so drop off your kids and run your errands.

Lovely morning with the ladies!
A great pilates class while the little ones played in The Playground.
Then we enjoyed yummy food from Nathalie's cafe.

On holiday with our Boba 4G - ' baby wearing' made easy!

We are back in our Sandbox! After two weeks off for Spring break holidays, we are now 'home' in Dubai. After a wonderful time in the Austrian mountains and in South of Sweden, we are ready to start the last school term of this academic year!

Recently, I have been asked about baby carrier and travel. So when Babysouk.com offered me to review the Boba 4G just before our Easter holiday travel, I was ready to test road it for you (and I). For both of my girls, I used the Baby Bjorn until they were about 10 months. It was great while travelling and running errands but I quickly felt the weight on my back and just did not have the need for it.

While packing for this trip, I realized that "baby wearing" would be a nice options for our daily walks in the mountains or the forest and a more convenient and practical way to enjoy wild terrains. I was just a bit worried of Josefin weight being a struggle on my back and if she would be happy to hang out in a constrain environment. Well, it worked out great! And we both really enjoyed the Boba 4G and here's why?!

The good stuff
- Suitable from birth up to 20kg, it grows with your child. It's value for money!
- Easy to use, no difficult assembly - the shoulder straps are already secured and the waist belt ready to fasten. It's great that it can be adjusted while baby is actually in the carrier by simply pulling on the straps. Easy instructions provided.
- Comfortable to wear. Boba prides itself on ergonomically designed products. Never felt the strain of Josefin 11 kilos. Feels like everything from the position of the straps to the padded belt has been designed with comfort and practicality in mind.
- Comfortable for your child as well. Little Jo happily sat in the Boba 4G. The design takes in consideration back support, hip and knees position to ensure proper sitting position.
- It feel strong and durable, thanks to the soft but sturdy fabric and heavy duty buckles. It suggest a quality and long lasting design. It is also machine washable, but even with a damp cloth, I manage to remove a spill.
- Pretty compact, I could roll it up and store it in the carry on while travelling.
- The little zipped pockets to store minimum items was a nice little bonus. Just enough for keys and phone.
- In the box you will find, infant insert but also foot straps for comfort and a sleeping hood. We did not get to use those items but I would think they are valuable addition to the product.
- Nice simple style that Dad can happily wear as well.

To think about...
- Not a problem with us but the Boba carrier can be use worn two ways - as a front and a back carrier. Some moms might miss the face forward option, hip or laid horizontally across your front.
- The back position is a bit more tricky to masteries but with a few practise round you will be able to do it by yourself.
- The buckle on the back can be difficult to reach at first and can easily tangle into your hair. A couple of practise runs and a hair tie will fix that.
- Make sure to read more details and review on Boba 4G on babysouk.com

We loved our BOBA CARRIER 4G CLASSIC - DUSK
Available at babysouk.com, retail price: AED495

You can help...
Boba 4G and Carry the Future, a non-profit, international volunteer organisation who collect and distribute baby carriers to refugee families fleeing violence, oppression and persecution have teamed up. Now our favourite online shopping retailer for baby stuff based in Dubai , babysouk.com has joined in to help by offering 35% off all baby carriers. You can also donate your used baby carrier to Carry The Future by dropping it off at The Change Initiative on Shk Zayed Road.
