Good head start...

I am no fashion/beauty blogger but though of sharing this today...
Most of the time, I get stock into the same hairstyle routine. Morning school run are not the time to experiment and I just take the easy route of the plain ponytail or no fuss bun. After a quick look around I find a few easy (seems easy) style to be inspired by. So instead of slicking back my hair and pulling it into a pony, I might make an effort to back comb, wrap some air around the hair tie or braid a strand... If you find yourself in a bind of what to do with your long locks check out those inspiration pins.

This boho bun is my must try! Braids are easy and fun, a head scarf  is a good idea to hide a bad hair day.... More inspiration here. Have fun!

A Monster in Paris

A Monster in Paris. Directed and written by Bibo Bergeron (Shark Tale) and produced by world renowned filmmaker Luc Besson, A Monster in Paris is lovely 3D-animated movie for the whole family to enjoy!

Plot Summary
Paris, 1910. Panic sweeps the city as flood waters rise and a monster is on the loose! Meanwhile a wacky inventor, his camera-crazy best friend, and a madcap monkey are on a mission to protect the beast, Franc, as he holds a rare and special talent. With the help of the beautiful but feisty singer Lucille, the team harbors the monster to keep him from the ghastly wannabe Mayor, Commissioner Maynott, who has a plan to capture Franc and reveal him to be nothing more than a monstrous danger to the people of Paris.

We watched it over the spring holiday while in France. It's been a very well received movie by the critic in France and internationally but not a commercial success. We loved it, for the beautiful Parisian scenery, the elegant and charismatic characters, the unforgettable "song and dance" musical feel to it. The soundtrack is enchanting, absolutely loved Vanessa Paradis and Sean Lennon honey toned vocals in the English version of the movie. The music score by popular French singer/songwriter Matthieu Chedid is a great mix of music style and beautiful vocals. Watch "La Seine" soundtrack.

Now available on DVD.

The Little Black Jacket

This afternoon, far away from our usual playground, we stepped into the world of Chanel. After Tokyo, New York, London, Paris, Berlin and Milan , the photographic exhibition dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld’s latest book, The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld opened on April 25th at the Venue, Downtown Dubai.

It was Luella's, first photographic exhibition. The specially constructed space with dark set up, focused lighting and elegant atmosphere was intriguing for a four years old. The exhibit showcased 109 portraits, original and new, of celebrities wearing the iconic jacket photographed by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Mrs Roitfeld, (former editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris ). The content of the exhibit is esthetically beautiful and it's creatively amazing how versatile and timeless the Chanel jacket can be.

Not to be missed! The exhibition will be open until Saturday May 11th 2013, and admission is free. As a treat you will go home with three large scale posters as gift souvenir. It made my girl very happy.

Or check out the book The Little Black Jacket: CHANEL’s classic revisited by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld, new expanded edition, Steidl, Göttingen, 375 dirhams.

You wanna know why?!

I have been asked "Why do you blog?! "
Trying to articulate an answer, I though of a quote from Chantelle, fatmumslim.com.au

"Because it’s my creative outlet. Because it’s my me time. Because it’s an expression of myself. Because here I’m not just a mother, or a wife, or a sister, or a daughter. I’m me. Because I can relate. Because I can communicate. Because I can share. Because I can be inspired. I can learn..."   I could not have said it better... :)

Some of GlamOnYou signatures pieces like kaftans, playful and evening dresses are replicated in "mini me" size for the little princesses in our lives. With ‘Little Miss’ by GlamOnYou I want girls to feel as fabulous as their mothers,” said the lovely Nadine Arton, Designer and Founder of GlamOnYou. Nadine and her sweet daughter wore matching dresses in white and neon color in flowing fabric, stunning!

For the love of books

Here's something nice to do with the whole family on Saturday April 20th. The Archive at Safa Park is hosting a Day of Book event. You will be able to participate in book readings, poetry, book binding workshops and story writing, children activities, as well as an evening of readings under the stars.

You can also donate a book and contribute to the children's book donation drive. Materials will be provided for the children to enclose a note about their book of choice.

Another reason to visit this lovely initiative? The Archive cafe will be serving it's all day menu to compliment the literary offerings. Something to look forward to, reading under the stars and some yummy snacks. Facebook / Book Day programme

Little Bird collection from Jools Oliver

Following the success of her first range six months ago, Jools Oliver  has launched her second Little Bird collection for Spring/Summer 2013, exclusively at Mothercare. Jools wife of Jamie Oliver, and mum of four is a now a successful business woman and children wear designer. We love the vintage floral motifs and fun rainbow stripes which are becoming Little Bird's signature style. The sweet and nostalgic feel of the collection will be a hit. A delightful intake into happy childhood memories.
