it's BookMunch time

If you are around Safa Park area... wondering where to spend one hour... Look no further and push the door open to BookMunch. The new bookstore / café located in Al Wasl Square is a little delightful spot.

Colorful and cosy it's pleasing to children and welcoming to mummies. Feel free to brows the book collection, the walls are filled with a large selection for children and adults. The playful tent is a great spot for kids to browse through the books.

Between two lovely stories book, Luella and I got to cosy up on a sofa with coffee and croissant. The menu offers a large selection of breakfast items, light bites, sandwiches, salads and more. The kids menu made us smile and tickled our appetite. We will try "Charlie and Lola's ocean nibbles with cloud fluff and moon squirters", or "Humpty Dumpty egg omelet" next time...

How do you treat a little girl to something special? Take her for a fun afternoon at Caboodle Dubai Mall. The pamper & play experience dedicated to offering a fun, educational, and stimulating environment where children can learn through play and exploration. It's also a spa where mothers and daughters can get pampered together and share special time.

Today, we had a lovely time celebrating Valentine's day with the very friendly staff and other delighted children. It was just perfect, from arts&craft with a love theme, to princess dress up, to manicure, to face painting and delicious treats.

Luella had a fantastic time while I sipped my coffee and watched her socializing, getting pampered and overhaul having a great playtime.

Caboodle is a treat for mums and children, it is a wining formula and we love it! Next time we might have to get Luella her first haircut at their super stylish salon.

Valentine's day event is still on tomorrow February 14th. Or visit anytime for some guaranteed fun!

Beauty Basic we ♥ from Johnson

Last week, I was invited to a lovely breakfast event, "Beauty 101" showcasing Johnson Beauty Brands. It was great to re-discover and get more familiar with brands like Johnson&Jonhson, Clean&Clear and Neutrogena. We all have our skin care routine pretty much established and know our favorites products but sometime a back to basic and value for money is just what we need to revamp our beauty routine.

The interactive stations and mini workshops provided me with some tricks and tips. I got to try out products that will now be keepers in my handbag, beach bag and bathroom counters.

Here's my 3 favorites:
JOHNSON'S® 24 Hour Moisture, the 100ml jar is perfectly small and convenient for my handbag. An all in one, multi function product for me and Luella. This hydrating and nourishing shea butter formula is a treat for your face, hands, body. It left my skin feeling smooth and nurtured. The lightly scented, silky texture is quickly absorbs into the skin. This is a skin saver for the whole family. Less than 10AED, a steal.

Cleansing wipes have been a big hit for years, due to their multi-functional purpose and easy to use propriety. JOHNSON'S® 24 Hour Facial Cleansing Wipes removed my make-up with so much ease. It's the quick way to go, to remove "raccoon eye" at the beach, or refresh after a gym session. They gently wipe away impurities and effectively remove make-up, even waterproof mascara, leaving your skin hydrated and refreshed. Also an efficient make-up tool, to rectify application and create a more define look, it works just like an eraser. Another keeper, for just AED 25!

My new best friend, Neutrogena® Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit. I like the gentle foaming scrub texture, the micro beads and Salicylic Acid helps clear blemishes and blackheads, without irritating your skin. The unique formula contains 100% naturally derived grapefruit extract plus vitamin C, which makes it not only effective but also gives it an uplifting freshness! The grapefruit scent is such a ‘wake-me-up’ in the morning! Around AED 44, well spent.

Those beauty buys available at supermarkets are not your deluxe treats but definitely some great valuable products. Now go splurge on something else, you won't feel the guilt... Happy shopping!

Sharing some bloging love

Being "a blogger" also means that I spend time reading other people blogs. I have mentioned the Dubai blogging community previously....

Today, I though I will share with you the 3 Dubai based fashion/ style blogs that I am currently reading. There is something comforting about drinking a cup of tea and looking into blog editorials. In a very informal way you get into the industry and get the 'scoop' on many things such as specific items of clothing and accessories, trends in various apparel markets, celebrity fashion choices and street fashion trends. You get into the life of someone via posts and conversation.

Today no one can really denied the power of blogging in the fashion industry.
"Fashion is a multi-billion-dollar industry that has considerable impact on the way ordinary people dress and present themselves. But there is more to fashion than the different articles of clothing, fashion is made up of designers, buyers, retailers, editors, and columnists. While all parties work together to create an image, all of these parties can simultaneously be affected by outside forces, especially blogs. Fashion is trend-driven and fashion blogs provide a new way to follow and oversee these fast-paced trends, it is likely that the blogoshepere will have a considerable long-term influence on the industry, as the number of fashion based blogs continue to grow." "New York Times Style section write, Eric Wilson did an extensive study on the impact of fashion bloggers on the fashion industry for one of his style columns. Wilson wrote that these bloggers have ascended ‘from the nosebleed seats to the front row’ in the past year and that the divide between the ‘high code’ editors with a professional opinion and the ‘amateur’ fashion bloggers is beginning to disintegrate." wikipedia
You might have come across Theresa Karpinska profile on various women magazine recently like Harper Bazaar, Emirates Women, Savoir Flair,... The successful Swedish stylist and fashion / lifestyle blogger shares her shopping likes, her favorite outfits du jour, healthy life choice and love for the surf... Style Drifter is nothing pretentious, she portrait the cool girl next door, the friend you want to go shopping with...
Heidi is radiant and it comes through her blog! The lovely photography, beautiful imagery and choice of editorial portrait her enthusiasm for stylish things.  It's always dreamy and inspirational  to read about the stylish, successful and driven mums she interviews. You get to visit the home of Dubai Crème de la crème....
If you like the magazine you will love the blog format of Emirates Woman Magazine website. The bite size posts are just the right combination of social party scene, fashion display, gourmet suggestion, travel ideas, beauty tips. Subscribe to the newsletter... and enjoy the daily candy bits of info right into your mailbox.

Also and as a resource for blog search have a look ar Happy reading!

Re-post: Smile, it's pancake day !

Tomorrow (giving you a heads up) we will make Crêpes and flip coins to celebrate Pancake day... Happy Pancake Day! Check out our post from last year.

In France we celebrated Crêpes Day - "Chandeleur" on February 2nd. Not only we eat a lot of crêpes on Chandeleur, but it is traditional to hold a coin in your hand and a crêpe pan in the other, and flip the crêpe into the air. If you manage to catch the crêpe in the pan, your family will be prosperous for the rest of the year. I like traditions...

Anyway... I am ready for more pancakes...

Pancake Day is also known as Shrove Tuesday in the Christian calendar, and is celebrated as Carnival and Mardi Gras elsewhere in the world. It falls just before Lent, and was traditionally a day of fun and feasting before the fasting during 40 days of Lent.
Looking for a classic pancake recipe, here it is!
