The O.N.E drink

Have you ever tried the slightly sweet water from inside a green coconut? The particular taste is very refreshing. Not practical in itself to drink but very exotic if you picture yourself on a tropical beach...

Now thanks to O.N.E drinks, it has been packaged into tetra pack (close to where the coconuts are harvested, capturing the fresh, healthy goodness) and ready for pick up in your local supermarket. Available in Spinney's.

Coconut water is one of the best ways to rehydrate. It has been shown to be more effective than plain water for hydrating. It contains electrolytes, such as Potassium, some naturally sugar  and is free of corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, caffeine, flavorings or colorings. Coconut water is a natural source of hydration, with much lower calories then many other fruit juices.

A great "sport drink", it helps replace fluids and electrolytes regularly to help avoid headaches, muscle cramping, and fatigue. It is a nutritional powerhouse! Now a staple food on my shopping list.

"But there is even something more special about O.N.E. Coconut Water – its history. For millennia people living in the tropics have used coconut water for a variety of purposes – including as an energy drink and a rehydration aid.  Coconut water has been directly injected into the bloodstream for transfusions in wartime emergencies. Its not surprising that the coconut palm is known as the Tree of Life in many cultures, and celebrated for its magical, life enhancing qualities." - www.onedrinks.com/one-coconut-water-benefits

Apple Seeds in our city

I am always excited to find out about the opening of a new playground and activities for children in Dubai. Indoor options for soft play area during the hot summer months and the many sandstorms are so valuable.

If you wonder where to take the kids for a play and to try out various activities like art, music, science, gym, cooking, singing and so much more. You will be happy to hear about Apple Seeds Dubai. This play space located in the Gold and Diamond Park opened up last week. The original concept of Apple Seeds comes from NY, a spacious play space for kids from 0 to 5 years old to run around with other kids, express themselves, and blossom. The New York City theme play area and the many educational classes contribute to children social, emotional and physical development. Learning new skills while playing.

Apple Seeds is based on membership which untitled you to unlimited access to play area, discounts on classes, and various privileges. Unfortunately no access to play area for non member! Check out the website for more infos regarding the classes, schedules, birthday party, summer camp and membership.

What we loved: clean, well designed, friendly space. Loved the NYC cab and the Deli market. Not crowded - for now - ok it's very new and based on membership!

What we look forward to: trying out some art and science classes like "my Chelsea art opening" and "ooohh...aaahhh...lllccckkk"

What we wish for: Daily or hourly entrance fee option.

Little extra: Coffee shop with view other the play area and free wifi internet access.

Underwater Zoo Adventure

Tuesday afternoon, another hot day in Dubai with a sandstorm on it's way...
What should we do? Let's go for a special treat, an adventure at the Underwater Zoo, at the Dubai Mall. Luella and her best buddy had a fantastic time! Here's what we saw and experienced.

First the aquarium display and the 43 meters long walk-through tunnel experience with a very impressive display of 33,000 aquatic animals like sharks and rays. It's the world’s largest acrylic viewing panel.

Located on Level 2 above the main Aquarium tank, the Underwater Zoo presents different ecological zones including Rain forest with Piranha, Caiman Crocodiles and Water Rats. Also the Rocky Shore, where a Humboldt Penguin colony cohabit and some amazing Giant Spider Crabs. Finally the Living Ocean part display some Sea Jellies and Moray Eels.
This is just a few of the fabulous aquatic animal you can see.

On the mezzanine, a special display of over 30 species of snakes, insects, geckos, lizards and more is the new highlight of the Underwater Zoo. "Creepy Crawlies" exhibit offers  an opportunity for close encounters.
Something we will do on our next visit...

We did not get the chance to see the behind the scene and learn about the feeding habits. I think, it will be more appropriate for older children. Luella is only 3, and was already amazed at every display. It's good to know that the Underwater Zoo offers difference activities like the Aquarist Programme and Glass Bottom Boat Rides for interactive experience for visitors.

This is a field trip you can do and do again.
50AED for access to walk-through tunnel and Underwater Zoo.

Sunscreen: fun and safe for kids

Beach lovers, there is a new product in town that might be the solution to sunscreen lotion application, without the tears...

Dora the Explorer Pink sunscreen was a huge success with my daughter and myself. She loves the friendly Nickelodeon character, the pink lotion which dries clear with no staining residue and the subtle bubblegum fragrance.

I am impressed with the micronized Zinc Oxide formula found in this sunscreen. It provides a strong UVA/UVB barrier without bad chemical actives such as Oxybenzone or Octinoxate found in many other brands.

It’s fun, go-anywhere protection kids will love to use! Available in three ranges each with their own Nickelodeon mascots- SpongeBob Square Pants, Dora the Explorer and Best Friend Diego.

Sunbow sunscreen has arrived in the U.A.E. just in time for beach season and can be found in selected Boots Stores. 45 AED for Sun Sticks, 70 AED for Sun Sprays and 75 AED for Creams.
